PROCESS
The method for creating my work is very labor intensive. I work on fine cotton fabrics that I wash to pre shrink and remove any chemicals that might react with my non toxic textile paints. I freehand my designs on the garments by using squeeze bottles filled with paint. I let this dry and then trace a mirror image onto the back of the garment. I then fill in the design with my bright colors using squeeze bottles, brushes, and sponges. Each design is one of a kind and wraps around the wearers body. After the piece has dried for a few days I will run it through my conveyer belt heat setting machine. This melts the paint into the fabric making it softer to the touch and machine washable.
CARE
I recommend a cold delicate cycle in the washing machine and hang to dry. Most of my clothing is 100% cotton, pre shrunk and can be ironed if needed. To soften before wearing, place the garment in the dryer for five minutes on a high/cotton setting with a fabric softener sheet.
